The 2019 Oscars might still not have a host, but at least they have finally revealed the list of nominees. Nominations were announced on Tuesday morning by Kumali Nanjiani and Tracee Ellis Ross.

Many say this year’s nominations are exciting for the conversations they have the potential to spark. The Academy Awards were asked for more diversity this year, and fans think it’s pretty evident that this years’ set of nominations represented a bit more diversity than before. However, fans have also noticed that no females have been nominated for Best Director, Cinematography, Editing, Music, Adapted Screenplay, and Original Screenplay.

Some fans were overjoyed to see their picks get some love, like Regina King earning her first Oscar nod for “If Beale Street Could Talk”, but others were highly disappointed that the film did not get nominated for Best Picture as it is one of the few films that have a “large cultural impact”.

Netflix’s “Roma” and dark comedy “The Favourite” led with 10 nominations each for the 91st Academy Awards and both were nominated for best picture alongside  “Black Panther,” “BlacKkKlansman,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “A Star Is Born,” “Vice,” and “Green Book.”

“Roma” is Netflix’s first Best Picture nominee and was one of the most talked about films of 2018. The film has been praised for its incredible writing, directing and cinematography by Alfonso Cuarón.
