Michael Cohen Accuses President Trump with Criminality
February 28, 2019
Michael Cohen, President Trump’s former lawyer accused him on Wednesday of an expansive pattern of criminality.
Cohen represented President Trump for more than a decade, told Congress that he had lied to reporters about stolen Democratic emails, and to the public about business interests in Russia during the 2016 campaign. Cohen also said that he had been told by Trump to lie about illegal payments to cover up sexual discretion. Day-long allegations aired at a hearing, exposing President Trump.
“He is a racist. He is a con man. And he is a cheat,” said Cohen of President Trump. Cohen pleaded guilty to lying under oath to Congress, saying he did so to protect President Trump. “I am not protecting Mr. Trump anymore,” he said.
When asked when Cohen decided he should reveal the truth, he responded saying: “There are several factors. Helsinki, Charlottesville, watching the daily destruction of our civility to one another.”
“Mr. Trump is an enigma, he is complicated, as am I. He is both good and bad, as do we all, but the bad far outweighs the good,” Said Cohen. When he met Mr. Trump, he knew him as “a real estate giant” and “icon”.
Cohen said that he had realized that he sacrificed his ethics and was seeking redemption for his crimes. “The more people that follow Mr. Trump as I did blindly are going to suffer the same consequences that I’m suffering,” he said. “I’ve lost it all.”
President Donald Trump’s re-election campaign organization dismissed Cohen, saying he should not be believed. “This is the same Michael Cohen who has admitted that he lied to Congress previously,” Kayleigh McEnany, the campaign’s national press secretary, said: “Why did they even bother to swear him in this time?”
