On February 6th, the most powerful rocket was sent into space by entrepreneur Elon Musk. The goal for the Falcon Heavy was to send a Tesla sports car into Mars’ orbit. The rocket was launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.  

Elon Musk commented on the successful launch stating, “I had this image of just a giant explosion on the pad, a wheel bouncing down the road. But fortunately, that’s not what happened.”   

Falcon Heavy opens some new opportunities for Elon Musk and the SpaceX company. The ultimate goal for the company is for humans to become an interplanetary species by colonizing Mars. The mission brings Musk’s goal a few light years closer.
