Discrimination, something women face anywhere throughout their lives. The U.S. Women’s Soccer Team is suing U.S. Soccer for discrimination with their payment, abilities to travel, their training, where they can play, how often they can play, and medical treatment. The team filed the lawsuit because they said they have been experiencing “institutionalized gender discrimination” for many years, at first all of the struggles the women’s team were facing was kept private, but over the years and after growing increasingly tired of being discriminated against, they have decided to become more and more public.

Many of the team members for the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team have said that the U.S. Soccer required them to play far more games than their male equivalents, and was still receiving less payment. Many other female soccer teams are also fighting against workplace discrimination, fighting for equal pay and female coaches. Women’s and Men’s teams receive bonuses for participating in the World Cup, these bonuses are determined by FIFA and not U.S. Soccer. For participating the teams receive $400 million dollars for the 32 mens teams, and only $30 million for the 24 women’s teams.

Women need to stick together to try and receive better workplace equality, and to fight against discrimination all over the world.
