A pedestrian was hit and killed on Thursday trying to cross Pleasant Hill Road. Several school buses coming from Poinciana were late due to this.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, a 73-year-old man was attempting to cross Pleasant Hill Road at about 6:50 a.m., when he walked into the path of a 2006 Dodge pickup truck driven southbound. Police reported the driver as Joseph Nunn, 66, from Palm Bay.

The front of the truck struck the victim, who was not walking on a crosswalk, the report stated. He was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not identified in the report because his family had not yet been notified.

This incident is still under investigation.

This is the second major accident in Poinciana this week.
