Last Saturday, OCSA’s students attended their 2019 prom, titled A Night of Elegance. This year, both Mrs. Sloan and the prom committee worked hard to throw a prom that Mrs. Sloan describes as “the best OCSA has ever seen.” Members of the prom committee said that this year’s theme, A Night of Elegance, was initially inspired by the Met Gala Masquerade theme.

This year, there was a major change in prom that differed from past years. Instead of having one prom prince and one princess, there was one prom prince or princess voted from each major.

These are the winners of the 2019 prom:

Prom King- Jabari Lewis

Prom Queen- Arianna Ortiz

Band- Jorge Trejo

Creative Writing- Ethan Baez

Dance- Christian Gonzalez

Drama- Ryan Murray

Orchestra- Shane Jagasser

Tech- Wesley Mullero

Visual Arts- Christian DeJesus

Vocal- Enrique Dowling

Some OCSA students have been speculating that the reason the prom court consists of all males with the exception of Prom Queen, is because they didn’t want to purchase any tiaras, however, this theory has not been proven.

Overall, many students can agree that those who decided not to go to this year’s prom definitely missed out on a fun night. Tia Pinto, a Junior tech major who was a member of the prom committee said: “I believe prom was a huge success…I am so thankful to be a part of the prom for the seniors this year and hope they had an amazing time.”
