Kim Jong-Un Confirmed to Meet With Putin Before End of Month

Tuesday, April 23rd- North Korea’s state-run Korean Central News Agency confirmed Tuesday the  North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is confirmed to soon Russia to meet with President Vladimir Putin, although the rendezvous date is still not released.

The Kremlin has stated that the meeting will take place,“in the second half of April,”  and is speculated by some local media that Putin will make the stop in the far eastern port city of Vladivostok located near Russia’s border with North Korea to hold a summit with Kim, The Diplomat reported. Putin is also scheduled to visit China later this month.

North Korea and Russia have shared interests in each other’s prospects: Russia is interested in gaining broader access to North Korea’s mineral resources and rare metals. North Korea desires access to Russia’s electricity supplies and wants to attract Russian investment to modernize its dilapidated industrial plants, railways and other infrastructure.
