A great turnout for the first OCSA “A Romantic Night of Jazz.”

Jay Baez and Jonathan Coss

The OCSA Ledger sat down with Assistant Principal Conners to discuss the Valentine’s Jazz Performance, including some vocal and dance majors.  A romantic style of music was the focus of the evening’s performances. People of all ages were invited to enjoy the show; A lot of jazz standard, and a special request contemporary rendition of “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran, featuring Andrea Bocelli, was performed by Samantha Sosa and Harry Otero.

Entrance to the venue was free with a suggested 10 dollars donations for Jazz Bands A, B, and C, in hopes of funding the upcoming Essentially Ellington Festival in New York, NY. Assistant Principal Conners said, “It [was] a night full of live music, and we [had] a professional lighting person.” Though this event was added to the calendar last minute, it was executed gracefully by everyone who helped put it together. Mr. Conners and Mr. Edwin Santiago are hoping that they can continue producing these jazz events for everyone to come enjoy, “hoping jazz lovers will always be there.” Mr. Conners was proud to see the event was a big success.
