A Umatilla, Florida teen is facing charges after she allegedly stole her parents’ debit card and used the money to hire two people to kill them.

According to authorities from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Alyssa Hatcher withdrew $500, then another $900, to buy cocaine and hire a hitman to do the deed. Witnesses told the police that the teen allegedly gave $400 to a friend in the hopes of hiring a professional killer, then $900 to another man who didn’t carry out the act. The teen withdrew more than $1,400. The suspect’s boyfriend told detectives that he’d seen her at a “known drug house” Monday morning, where she told him of her plan.

The teen’s parents were not injured, but decided to press charges. The 17-year-old girl was arrested Tuesday on two counts of solicitation of murder, according to the Tampa Bay Times. After being taken into custody, Hatcher was transported to the Lake County Jail. She was then processed before being turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice.

“The parents are good people, outstanding citizens. This was just somebody, who for whatever reason, just didn’t want her parents around,” Lake County Sergeant, Fred Jones, told WFTV.
