Culver’s Opens Toys for Tots Donations

Emilyanne Richart, Reporter

The Culver’s on Orange Blossom Trail across from Osceola County School for the Arts, is asking for donations for Toys for Tots, as well as a canned food drive. Culver’s is a fast food restaurant known for its southern hospitality and $1 milkshakes from 4-5 PM.

The unwrapped toys (valued at least $5 each) will be brought to Toys for Tots,  a program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve which distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas. For each toy brought in, you will get a free value basket and regular concrete mixer.

This is the first year Culver’s will be participating in Toys for Tots, but one of the managers, DJ Westcott, says that he thinks that this will turn into a yearly tradition because they’ve had a “huge success”. People are also encouraged to donate unexpired canned goods to their can drive, which will be go to Saint Cloud Food Pantry. For 4 canned goods, you can get a free regular concrete mixer, or 6 canned goods you’ll get a free value basket.

Westcott says that the chain “just got word that [they’ve] donated 800 pounds of canned goods this year already.” Even though they don’t have a goal, please donate as much as you can and spread the word to help many families this Christmas season.

Westcott and another manager, Rosa Wiles, are in charge of the drives at Culver’s. They deserve all of the recognition and praise for getting such an amazing volunteer opportunity on its feet.

Please take advantage of these amazing donation opportunities soon and help those in need this Christmas season!
