The Oscars is reaching it’s 90th annual celebration of film making this Sunday on March 4th, 2018. Every year, the Oscars shines light on films that are cinematically beautiful and well-crafted, and assign awards to nominees chosen to be the best in their category. In addition to the winners, the host of the Oscars are always expected to acknowledge the current political and social climate, bringing attention to the latest issues.

Talk show host Jimmy Kimmel is taking the spotlight as this year’s host and has already acknowledged the political climate surrounding Hollywood and the United States. “It is almost necessary for comedians to address serious subjects,” Kimmel said on Good Morning America, ready to take Hollywood’s controversies and taboo subject matters under his wing and create a few laughs.
