NAHS’ Arts Week Begins

NAHS Arts Week Begins

Loran Massey, Reporter

It’s Arts Week! Prepared and hosted by OCSA’s National Art Honor Society, Arts Week seems to be the excitement on the horizon for our students before Spring Break. For the entire week, students will be able to interact with Visual Artists during lunch in the courtyard, and, as advertised during our last ‘Master Class’ Session, there will be many interactive activities and events to enjoy, each very promising.

Among these include free events such as live art demonstrations, photo ops, art center activities, and sidewalk art chalk available for use. There will also be events that require pay. Such events include Henna, Screen Printing, Custom Clothes, and Art Collection Buttons. Henna designs, chosen by the student themselves, may cost from $5-15 depending on complexity of the design, and each design must be printed and approved by Mrs. Calderon before received. There is also a signed permissions slip required to receive requested Henna design. For Screen Printing, students may bring in t-shirts, hoodies, totes, etc., to have a design of their choice printed onto, each print being $5. Custom Clothes work in a similar fashion, with painted designs to be applied to shoes, jean jackets, etc., costs ranging from $10-20 depending on design. Once again, a printed copy of the chosen design must be provided by the student. Buttons will cost only $1.

With so much to do and experience, Arts Week for 2018 looks to be another promising year of fun among the student body. However, not only will the events themselves be exciting, but this will be the perfect opportunity to explore just a small part of what our Visual Artists are capable of and passionate about. With such a promise of understanding and appreciation among majors, OCSA is extremely excited for Arts Week and all the fun it will bring.
