Prom is just around the corner, and with prom comes the question as old as time: “What do I wear?” Well, there’s a simple method that’ll help you figure out just that.
First, you should figure out what the theme of prom is. In this year’s case, the theme of prom is “Garden Masquerade.” With a theme, you can figure out what kind of mood you want to set with your look. Whether you want to play more into the elegant mystery of the masquerade, or the natural magic of the garden is completely up to you.
Third, once you figure out what kind of mood you feel, you should ask yourself what you don’t want. It may seem odd, but thinking about what you don’t want in a prom look can actually help you narrow down your search for a dress or a suit. For example, I knew that I didn’t want a skintight dress that I could hardly dance in. I also knew that I didn’t want to wear any shade of neon. Once you find the perfect dress or suit, it’s time for my favorite part: accessories! Accessories make or break a look. A simple rule of thumb is, if your dress is very extravagant, keep the jewelry simple so that it doesn’t draw attention away from the dress, but rather adds to the outfit as a whole. As in previous years, there will the opportunity to select from the schools prom dress selection. It is not yet determined who is in charge of it this year, but updates will be given.
Fourth, make sure you actually purchase your prom tickets on MySchoolBucks, the ticket prices have officially been raised to $95, and they will increase soon, so get them while you can.
No matter what you choose, the most important thing is what feels good to you. Expressing yourself authentically is more fabulous than any article of clothing.
