After years of rivalry and revenge, horror icon Jack the Clown returns for the 35th annual year of Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights. For a selective 48 nights through August 28th- November 1st, dive into the unveiled theme this year featuring familiar characters Jack the Clown and Dr. Oddfellow in “The Infernal Carnival of Nightmares”. Their rivalry continues beyond the grave for fear and control fueling the night, including their own haunted house called Jack & Oddfellow: Chaos and Control. Building back from their appearances in 2007,2025, 2021, and 2023 in HHNS.
The history of the two started back in a carnival Oddfellow owned called “Dr. Oddfellow’s Carnival of Thrills.” He was an occultist who was trying to harness the supernatural power of the Zodiacs by manipulating the performers and creating a dark energy to harness their fear by control. His goal was to be powerful and reign terror to harness control. Meanwhile, the star performer, Jack Schmidt was a long-time serial killer who disguised himself as a clown to murder his victims in the circus, many including children. Jack and Oddfellow went into the same systems with separate intentions. Oddfellow used it for precision and purpose, Jack used it for theatrical violence. Oddfellow noticed his growing dangerous behavior and killed Jack then sealed him in a box. The box transformed him by dark energy and power of the cane of souls. Jack returned and killed Oddfellow taking control of the circus making it the Carnival of Carnage by fear, spectacle, and blood. Dr. Oddfellow didn’t die but he remained in the realm of the Zodiac. He finally took control; he returned and transformed into a man wielding the zodiac.
So now they return this year to continue their fighting in their own haunted house. Where it explores the beginning of where the two met, inside the box into the Oddverse. At the start, Jack refuses to stay in the box and interrupts the story and confronts Oddfellow. As people walk through the house, they experience the chaos of Jack and Oddfellow fighting for the same story, space, and power.
But both come to a realization that combining their fear can lead to a greater control. They choose to unite for a purpose. Thus, it created a new living horror powered by fear itself, pulling in every nightmare, scream, and terror. Born from a ritual that was made by chaos and power. Creating the “Infernal Carnival of Nightmares!”
So be sure to check out the passes for this year for a freaky terrifying night with Jack the Clown and Dr. Oddfellow. As well as going through Jack’s Carnival of Carnage scare zones that are returning to celebrate 35 years of Halloween Horror Nights.
