Apple’s CEO Tim Cook has stepped down from over a decade and handed over the role to John Ternus, who is Apple’s senior vice president of hardware engineering. The company released a statement saying he will take over September 1, 2026. This doesn’t mean Coo is completely stepping away however, as he will become executive chairman of Apple’s board of directors and will still be CEO through the summer until September.
Steve Jobs may have introduced the iPhone and Apple products. But Tim Cook was the one who expanded the influence far beyond just cellular phones. He is responsible for pushing products like Mac, iPod, Apple Watch, AirPods, and Apple TV+. Tim Cook is very proud of his work with apple and has loved the job he had as evidenced by the community letter he sent out. The former CEO has reportedly read emails from thousands of fans of Apple products. He stated “You share little pieces of your lives with me and tell me things you want me to know,” in his letter.
The new CEO for Apple is expected to be John Ternus who started at apple in 2001 on the product design team, and eventually became vice president of hardware engineering in 2013, and the senior vice president job in 2021. His statement after acquiring this role was “I am humbled to step into this role, and I promise to lead with the values and vision that have com to define this special place for half a century.” Ternus will take over during a very important year as there are plans for this year might include a revamp of Siri which would help Apple catch up to services like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini. Another update from Apple is they plan to release a foldable phone similar to Samsung’s foldable phone. Apple appears to be set up for a continued legacy of expansion under new management and the world is anticipating their next move.
