This month, Founder and Executive Director of StopAntisemitism, Liora Rez who refers to herself as a “Proud Jew and Zionist” in her Instagram bio said something many viewed as an unlawful threat. She said, “We will shine a light on you, that thanks to Google and SEO, will follow you for the rest of your life,” referring to what is set to happen to anyone targeting Jewish students as new repercussions have been established.

Rez’s words were viewed as a ‘direct threat’ by many. Comments on the interview included, “They are threatening people. My god, how is this allowed?” and “Imagine being so powerful that you can put laws to ban anyone from ever criticizing you”. She justifies her sentences by stating that Antisemitism thrives on no consequences, so “we had to add lots of consequences”. Her claims do often receive backlash, though she ties America into it as a supportive ally quite often. She explained her organization “runs one of the most robust antisemitic enforcement operations in the United States” today.

In an interview almost a year ago with 18FORTY, Israeli politician and diplomat Fleur Hassan-Nahoum also referred to America as an Israeli ally. She said, “…they talk about 14,000 babies, they propagate the blood libel that 14,000 babies are going to die in 24 hours. Then after a few days, you realize it’s all a lie” intending to quote ‘people who believe Hamas’. She argues that claims of Israel being in the wrong are simply not true, that the US is helping Israel because “They understand that we’re in a dilemma.”

Both politicians negatively go after Islam and Muslim countries as a whole; they defend Israel destroying Palestine, yet call on the US–the land of the free–to support their ideals.
