The final season of “Stranger Things” has fully released. Many fans were so upset with the ending that they theorized that the season finale was a ruse and that the characters were actually in a mind prison (a theory dubbed Conformity Gate) and that a real season finale was actually going to release days later.

Fans also noticed simple production mistakes and furthered their theories. But when the day finally came all that was released was a documentary about the creation of season 5.

There were a few reasons fans of previous seasons were generally not happy with the final season. They said the season had relatively low stakes with very little deaths while attempting to focus on a large cast of characters.

Also, there were some concerns over the season finale potentially being written using AI due to some clips from the documentary. The creator of the documentary, Martina Radwan, later debunked a lot of these rumors: “What I find heartbreaking is [that] everybody loves the show, and suddenly we need to pick it apart.”

Nonetheless, many of the fans remain upset with the way the last season came out.
