From behind the magic of “The Fairly Odd Parents” and “Johnny Phantom,” Nickelodeon composer Guy Moon, 63, died in a traffic collision on Thursday, January 8 in Willington, California. Moon is mourned across Nickelodeon, his family, and his peers.
Guy Moon, a husband and a father of 3, began his career in the 1980s where he first composed the “Creepozoids” released in 1987, then went on to contributing to other animated films for Nickelodeon. He was most known for “The Fairly Odd Parents” (2001-2017), “Danny Phantom” (2004-2007), and “The Addams Family” (1992-1993). “The Fairly Odd Parents” earned him 3 Emmy nominations along with its 3 movies.
He also composed music for “Johnny Test”, and the “Johnny Test” 2021 reboot. Additionally his credentials included: “The Chalk Zone” (2002-2004), “Big Time Rush” (2009-2013), and “T.U.F.F. Puppy” (2010-2015), “The Grim Adventures of Bill & Mandy” (2001), “Cow and Chicken” (1997-1990), “The Brady Bunch” films (1990), “Fight Club” (1990), and “Back at the Barnyard” (2007-2011).
Throughout his entire career, Moon earned 70 credits, and was an Annie-Award winning writer.
His family released a Facebook post addressing the loss: “We feel singularly blessed to have been able to call him dad and husband. As we stand together at the base of what seems to be an insurmountable grief, we are emboldened to grieve him with honor and courage with the tools that he equipped us with in his beautiful life. He has left an unmistakable legacy, and will be profoundly missed by us, his family, and countless others whose lives he impacted.”
All the way from his earliest compositions to his last (“The Artist”), Moon has left behind a legacy in his Nickelodeon projects and music.
