The Super Mario Bros Movie announced a new sequel in 2024, “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” that is set to release April 1, 2026. The original release date was to be on April 3rd but got pushed back due to the Writers Guild of America Strike.

In the first official trailer, released on November 12, 2025, it leaves off from the end of the first movie, where Bowser was shrunk and put into a jar. We are met with most of the main characters from the 1st film along with new fan awaited such as Bowser Jr., Rosalina, Wario and Waluigi. The 2nd trailer, released January 25, 2026, introduced Yoshi. As Yoshi has been known to be an animal companion to the brothers featured in the older Nintendo Super Mario games loved by many fans worldwide.

The plot of the movie follows on a journey of Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad traveling into outer space to battle Bowser Jr, the main antagonist seeking to free his dad and take over the world. The group is met with new worlds and obstacles as they meet new friends along the way.
