Since the new year has begun, President Trump has commenced three conflicts with three separate countries; Venezuela, Mexico, and Iran. Here is a breakdown of what has happened/is happening with each country:
Venezuela
On January 3rd, Trump sent troops into the country capturing their dictator Nicholas Maduro and his wife, who are now sitting in the federal detention center in Brooklyn, NY. This operation was performed in secret at night, though the threats from Trump of capturing Venezuela have been constant for a while. The country, while free of a dictator, is also in an unclear state of leadership and oil distribution.
Mexico
On February 22nd of this year, the trump administration assisted with the killing of “El Mencho” or Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, the biggest cartel leader in Mexico. El Mencho and his cartel have been responsible for a grand amount of the drug traffic coming through the US since around 2017. Mexico has been under a state of emergency since the killing; the cartel members have been retaliating with violence, burning houses and cars, assaulting the public in general.
Iran
On February 28th of this year, the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed by US and Israeli forces via bombing. The US has been scheming of attacking Iran for years now; the reasoning behind why it happened now, is somewhat unclear. Trump has said attack happened mainly to protect the US from Iranian regime and threats, amongst other things.
The violence between the three countries has erupted immensely within the days after the attack; Iran has been attacking Isreal and US allied states on the gulf, Isreal and the US have been retaliating in return. The war is now affecting neighboring countries and innocent citizens. Many public officials say this is a war no American wants to fight, specifically US Marine veteran Brian McGinnis was forcibly removed for protesting the US policy in Southwest Asia. As he broke his arm while being removed, he screamed, “No one wants to fight for Israel”.
What do these events signify?
These events have caused many to view America as an aggressor, specifically other countries. Since Israel, a country that has been torturing Palestine for years as well as being an extreme initiator of conflict with numerous territories, has started to be a public prominent partner to Trump, concern has taken on an ultimate high. Even many MAGA supporters are noticing the contradiction between Trump’s original campaign of being an anti-war president, and how he’s acting now, who he’s cooperating with now. The president has been very adamant in the news of wanting control over many Latin-American countries as well as other territories now.
