On Tuesday, March 31, from 6:00- 7:30pm The Visual Arts Department will be holding their first art show in OCSA’s new building. The show is titled “RE•DUX: Reframing the Future” and will cost $5 admission. The event will be held in the Art Gallery in Building 3 featuring pieces from students across grades 6-12.
This art show is about “new beginnings in the new building…[and] starting fresh” said Mr. Corbett, one of the Visual Arts teachers here at OCSA. He mentioned how being in the new gallery allowed the department to present one of their biggest shows yet. Viewers will get to see over 200 pieces-in numerous mediums- cultivated and perfected by visual artists who have spent countless hours preparing for this upcoming show.
This art show, however, isn’t just about viewing the displayed pieces. The hope for the event is that guests walk away feeling impacted. Mr. Corbett expressed how viewing art, specifically visual arts, is crucial because it provides audiences with a deeper and different perspective on life. He believes that visiting art shows, like this one, allow every student and major to “take with them important lessons [and] life skills.” This upcoming art show doesn’t just support The Visual Arts Department, it also supports the students and, more importantly, the viewers.
